food to detox your body
Add avocados to the list of foods to use to detox your body.

Many foods–processed and otherwise–are junk that will do nothing except gunk up your system, pack on weight, ruin your skin and otherwise harm your health. Thankfully there’s also plenty of foods that cleanse the body from toxins that lead to disease and other unpleasantness. Check out a few of the top foods to detox your body that our world has to offer and add them to your diet today! Or at least this week….

Avocados: Your Carcinogen Shield

Avocados are often celebrated as one of the healthiest fruits there is. Just when you thought they couldn’t get any better, avocados contain a nutrient called glutathione, which blocks 30–that’s right, 30!–carcinogens from wrecking havoc on the body. Glutathione also cleanses the liver of synthetic chemicals. Other benefits include lowering cholesterol, diluting the blood vessels, and keeping out toxins set on damaging the arteries.

Wheatgrass is loaded with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin K, protein, beta carotene and calcium. Best taken in the morning, wheatgrass is renowned as a blood and colon cleanser. It also features cancer-fighting properties. Score!

Cabbage: A Staple Irish Food That’s Also Extremely Healthy

While eating cabbage raw is a very different experience from consuming other leafy greens due to its thickness, the veggie’s health benefits cannot be underestimated. Cabbage aids the liver in breaking down hormones and strengthens the organ’s detoxifying abilities in general. It also cleanses the digestive tract and neutralizes some of the damage done to the body from cigarettes. If that isn’t enough, cabbage features antioxidant and anti-cancer compounds.

Garlic: Ideal When You Have A Mucus Issue

Experience the miracle that is garlic!

Garlic is a food that should always be a part of your pantry. The little white bulb cleanses the intestines and blood from frightful stuff such as intestinal parasites, viruses and unfriendly bacteria. Its anti-cancer and antioxidant properties support the body in saying bye-bye to not-nice substances, while it also helps the arteries remove build-up. Other benefits include aiding the body in the removal of sinus and lung mucus (ewww). Eat raw garlic for best results, as the powdered stuff you find on spice racks isn’t going to do a whole lot.

Grapefruit: Just Don’t Squirt It In Your Eye

Heavy metals in the body are a problem these days due to pollution, however grapefruit will help you get rid of such toxins. The ruby red breakfast fruit features pectin fiber, which attaches to cholesterol and subsequently purifies the blood in addition to helping rid the body of said heavy metals. Grapefruit is also fantastic for cleansing the liver and intestines.

Save that seaweed in your hair next time you go swimming.

Seaweed: Underrated Yet Totally Awesome

Arguably one of the most underrated foods in the western world, seaweed binds to radioactive waste in the body and sends it packing! Like grapefruit, seaweed is also ideal for ridding the system of heavy metals. Its mineral content is also off the proverbial charts, making it a great food to add to meals.

These are just some of the top cleansing foods to try! Add these and other options to your diet and enjoy a happier, healthier existence!
